Nillumbik Emus Orienteering Club

Nillumbik Emus is one of the larger and more active orienteering clubs in Victoria. We are affiliated with the Orienteering Victoria and take our turn to organise bush, urban park, and mountain bike events.

We welcome individuals and families, keen competitors and people who simply enjoy the challenge of improving their fitness and navigational skills. Members also enjoy other activities including Rogaining.

Bush Orienteering

Bush Orienteering is more than just a trail run, involving moving off the trail into the bush. There is no marked route on the ground; the aim is to reach pre-determined control points using a map for navigation. The key is concentration and the ability to make quick decisions while moving as fast as you can. It’s not just for runners, but walkers as well, with courses available for everyone regardless of fitness or age.

Mountain BikeO

Combine the fun and excitement of a mountain bike ride with map reading, route choice and the buzz of competition – come and try Mountain Bike Orienteering. Using specially prepared maps, riders navigate a network of tracks to controls. Each rider decides for themselves the route they will take, and the person who completes the course in the fastest time is the winner.
