MT LOFTY AUTUMN BUSH SERIES #2 Sunday 15th April 2018

A great new area, West of Redesdale. Discovered by Rex Niven and mapped by Alex Tarr.

The event was a great success thanks in particular to : Course setter Rex Niven

Event adviser Russell Bulman and Organiser Ron Frederick.

IT team : Geoff Hudson, Rob Edmonds and Don Fell.

Registration team, headed by Laurie Niven.

Toilet and trailer towers Ron and Rob.

Another 10 or so NE members who helped with parking, pre start, finish, control collection and general pack up.

The area is generally runnable, spur gully with isolated rock and some thicker bush in the South, well away from the shorter courses.

Weather unpleasant on the Saturday, when we were setting up. However, on the event day, we only had a very small amount of rain, with patches of sunshine.

Rex negotiated with an adjoining land owner to use one of her paddocks for parking.

Most participants gave favourable feedback. It was suggested that the area would be suitable for school groups and/or relays, as it is relatively small and surrounded by open farm land.

Victorian Club Relays

The Victorian Club Relay Champs is being organised by Nillumbik Emus

The event is on Sunday April 7 on our Mt Lofty map near Lake Eppalock, first used last year.

If you are not competing but can still come along to help that will be greatly appreciated.

There will be a lot of preparation to organise maps, chest numbers, building the software for timing and placing controls next week in the lead up to the event. We will need members to act as officials on the day (as well as run) – parking, registration, timing, and managing the map changeover. There are 49 teams entered, 5 teams from Nillumbik Emus.

Laurie, Rex, Dorothy, Lauris, Ian Parry and Rob will be setting up on Saturday. We have one spare bed at Henry’s cottage in Redesdale. Rex and Laurie are camping at the event site.

We will be setting up some of the infrastructure on the Saturday.

Ron Frederick will assist Rex put out controls from Thursday.

Further details for The Victorian Club Relay Champs are on Eventor. There are two documents on you can download, explaining the details.

Lauris Stirling assisted by Laurie Niven is the Team Manager. As well as managing our club’s team selections, they will administer the registration of all clubs entering the event, i.e bib handout and the layout of maps on the lines for team change over.
