Emus Online December 2023

Another year is coming to its frenetic conclusion. I would like to wish everyone and their families a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Welcome to new club member Alan Leenaerts. Alan is a returnee with interests in adventure racing, mountain biking and friends of Plenty Gorge.

AGM and Get Together: A pleasant afternoon was enjoyed by all. A highlight was Ron Frederick’s slides on his Alaska trip and Rob and Helen’s trip to Tassie in January which included the Oceania Orienteering Champs.

The annual Vin Maloney competition was held this year at the Victorian Orienteering Championships at Mt Alexander on Sept 3rd. The Vin Maloney Trophy was won by junior Matt Layton followed by Ron Frederick and Geoff Armstrong. The full report is in the link to all AGM reports on Dropbox.

There are interesting reports from our juniors who took part in the Australian Championship Carnival in Western Australia.

Dorothy Adrian was recognised for her contributions to the club and orienteering over many years in being given the Services to Orienteering Award. Dorothy was a former President and Vice-President of the club and a key helper in many events. We wish Dorothy a happy future at her retirement village.

The club committee remains the same in 2024 with Ron Frederick, President; Laurie Niven, Vice-President; Christine Westley, Treasurer; Rex Niven, Secretary; and committee members Don and Fiona Fell, Rob and Helen Edmonds, Schon Hudson, Carolyn Layton, Lauris Stirling and Ian Parry.
